Evez Abdulla baritone

             Evez Abdulla studied at the Academy of Music in Baku and began his career at the Azerbaijan National Opera singing such roles as Amonasro, Germont, Conte di Luna, Scarpia, Escamillo and the title in Rigoletto.

            Evez Abdulla’s 2018/19 season includes his debut at Frankfurt Opera as Jago in Verdi's Otello and Don Carlo in La forza del destino, a return to Opéra de Lyon for the role of Prince Kurlyatev in Tchaikovsky's The Enchantress, as well as Rigoletto, Scarpia and Conte di Luna in Il trovatore, at Nationaltheater Mannheim.

        He lately made his debuts as Frank in Puccini's Edgar, at the St Galler Festspiele; the title role in Rachmaninoff's Aleko and Giovanni Malatesta in Zandonai's Francesca da Rimini, at the Scottish Opera; Don Carlo in La forza del destino, at the Theater Basel; Gryasnoy in The Tsar’s Bride, at the Berlin Staatsoper Unter den Linden; and with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, in the world premiere of Franghiz Ali-Zadeh’s Nasimi Passion.

             Further engagements have included Germont at Glyndebourne Festival on tour; Miller in Luisa Miller and the title role in Nabucco, at the Oper Stuttgart; Ruprecht in The Fiery Angel, at the Komische Oper Berlin and Deutsche Oper am Rhein; Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor, Renato in Un Ballo in Maschera, and Don Carlo in Ernani, at the Nationaltheater Mannheim; Aleko and Macbeth at the Opéra de Lyon; The Protector in George Benjamin’s Written on Skin and Athanaël in Massenet‘s Thaïs, at the Bonn Opera.
