Serenad Uyar soprano

       While studying piano and guitar, Serenad Uyar began singing in Turkey. Her talents as musician and vocalist quickly earned her Music Conservatory awards. She first stepped on stage in the role of Olympia in Offenbach's Les Contes d'Hoffmann, at the Izmir State Opera. Miss Uyar then won the AS.LI.CO competition in Milan and came to Europe. She did an internship in an opera studio in France, the CNIPAL, for the 2004-2005 season during which she sang: Anna in Donizetti's Maria Stuarda at the Marseille Opera and the soprano part in Beethoven's Christ on the Mount of Olives at the Sacred Music Festival, with the conductor Kenneth Montgomery. That same year, she sang in Istanbul and at Canakkale in Carl Orff's Carmina Burana and in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony under the direction of Ibrahim Yazici. In 2006, Serenad Uyar sang the role of Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute, at the Nantes Theatre in a production by Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier. Then the great international pianist Fazil Say granted her the soprano part in recording a CD in a work from his The Meltin Altiok Oratorio composition that they performed at the Istanbul Festival before taking the first prize in the "Début 2006" competition in Bad Mergentheim, Germany. Miss Uyar performed The Queen of the Night in 2007 at the Mannheim Theatre and the Deutsche Oper Berlin. In 2008, she was invited by La Scala in Milan to perform again the soprano part in Carmina Burana, which she would reprise at Berlin's Deutsche Oper and made her debut in the title role in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor in the same theatre. In 2009, she was Lucia at the Dijon Opera and took on the title role in Massenet's Manon, at the Nantes Theatre in a production by Renée Auphan and Yves Coudray. Then she played Queen of the Night at the Düsseldorf Opera as well as at Berlin's Deutsche Oper where she also played Gilda in Verdi's Rigoletto.

            During the season 2010-2011, Serenad was the Queen of the Night in Salzburg for the Mozart's Week with the conductor René Jacobs. She performed Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata, Lucia in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor as well in the role of Soeur Constance in the Poulenc's Les Dialogues des Carmelites, in Berlin, and took on the role of Donna Anna in the Mozart's Don Giovanni in Marseille and Berlin a few months later. She was also invited in Athens for recording a CD of the Glück's Il Trionfo di Clelia in which she sings the role of Larissa. Serenad also received the prize of the best Female Opera Singer for the year at the Classic's Music Victory of Turkey, in Istanbul. The season 2011-2012 was very rich with the roles of Lucia di Lammermoor, Gilda, Queen of the Night, Donna Anna and Larissa in the Glück's Il Trionfo di Clelia, at the operas of Padova, Rovigo, Marseille, Berlin, Athens, Karlsruhe, Mannheim and Tel Aviv and in recital with the Izmir Symphonic Orchestra. During the season 2012–2013, Serenad Uyar performed the roles of Donna Anna, conducted by Roberto Abbado, at the Petruzelli's Theatre in Bari, her first Juliette in Gounod's Romeo et Juliette in Sassari, Queen of the Night conducted by Rene Jacobs in a European tour in Amsterdam, Brussels, Roma, Barcelona and Lisboa, she will do the same role at the Stuttgart Theater, Lucia di Lammermoor at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Violetta and Larissa in the Glück's Il Trionfo di Clelia, in Bologna, the Mahler's 8th Symphony in Ankara and Mimi in Puccini's La Bohème. Serenad Uyar started the season 2013 - 2014 in Leipzig with the Queen of the Night. Then the Marseille's Theatre invited her to sing again Lucia di Lammermoor just before to sing Donna Anna at the Opera Vlaanderen.

           In 2014-2015, she performed the roles of Queen of the Night, Lucia, Mimi and concerts in theatres as Vichy, Marseille, Berlin Deutsche Oper, Komische Oper Berlin, Berlin Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Copenhagen, Ankara and Leipzig. The season 2015-2016 started at the Florence Opera with Lucia di Lammermoor, then Liege’s Opera and the Deutsche Oper Berlin invited her to sing the Queen of the Night. After to sing the roles of Queen of the Night, Lucia and Violetta in the season 2016-2017, Serenad took on the title role of Dvorak’s Rusalka, at the Tours Opera with the stage director Dieter Kaegi. During the season 2017-2018, Serenad performed as Lucia di Lammermoor at the Festival Mediterranea in Malta, at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and at the Toulon’s Theatre. Then she played Queen of the Night at the Royal Danish Opera of Copenhagen and made her debut with the role of Antonia in Les Contes d’Hoffmann at Freiburg. This same season, she did a concert with the Borusan Philarmonic Orchestra in Istanbul and she played Violetta at the Clermont-Ferrand Opera.

            In 2018-2019, Serenad played Violetta at the International Opera Festival in Istanbul, Queen of the Night at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Armgard in Offenbach’s Les Fées du Rhin at Tour’s Opera and Theatre of Biel/Solothurn. During the season 2019-2020, Serenad made her debut as Leïla in Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers, in Vichy and Clermont-Ferrand, before to sing Queen of the Night at the Marseille’s Opera. She also made her debut as Liu in Turandot at the Ankara State Opera and Cio Cio San in Madama Butterfly at the Antalya State Opera.

           Among her next projects, we can mention the title role of Janacek’s Sarka, Cio Cio San and Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail.
