Liana Aleksanyan soprano

Considered one of the most promising sopranos of her generation, Armenian-born soprano Liana Aleksanyan is praised for both her spinto qualities and remarkable stage presence. Since her European debut as Manon Lescaut at the Norwegian National Opera in 2005, she has been performing at most major European opera houses. She is currently part of the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.

Considered a Verdi and Puccini specialist, she has sung in over ten Madama Butterfly productions. She made her Teatro alla Scala debut with this role in the opening of the 2016/17 production conducted by Riccardo Chailly. Liana has also sung Cio-Cio San in Valencia, Köln, Düsseldorf, Florence, Buenos Aires and Hamburg. In addition to this, she has recently taken part in productions at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari (Simon Boccanegra), Macerata Festival (Aida), Deutsche Opera am Rhein (Don Carlo, La Bohème) and sung a concert gala in Shanghai with Daniel Oren.       

In the 21/22 season, Liana will make her debut in the title role of Tosca (Teatro Petruzzeli in Bari) and as as Adriana Lecouvreur (Deutsche Oper am Rhein). She will also sing Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro (Deutsche Oper am Rhein) and the title role of Luisa Miller (Hamburgische Staatsoper). In 22/23, she will revive the roles of Adriana Lecouvreur, of Tosca and Cio-Cio San at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.

In the 2010/11 season, Aleksanyan was part of the ensemble of the Aalto Theater in Essen where she sung roles such as Violetta (La Traviata), Antonia (The Tales of Hoffmann), Contessa (Le Nozze di Figaro), Amalia (I Masnadieri) or Tatiana (Eugene Onegin).She has worked withwith conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Simone Young, Giampaolo Bisanti, Francesco Ivan Ciampa, Riccardo Frizza, Giampaolo Bisanti and directors such as Andreas Homoki, Joan Anton Rechi, Hans Neuenfels, Mario Pontiggia, and Hugo de Ana among others.

Liana Aleksanyan began her musical education at the age of nine first with the piano at the Mizroyan Music School. and then by following her vocal studies with Sergey Danielyan at the Komitas Conservatory in Yerevan. She has been finalist in several international singing competitions around Europe and won the 3rd prize in the “Concours international de chant de Toulouse
