Khachatur Badalyan tenor

        The Armenian tenor is a laureate of the Don State Technical University and studied on the S. Rachmaninov State Conservatory. He participated in masterclasses with Richard Budo, Diane Zola (Houston Opera House), Leonore Rosemberg (Metropolitan Opera), Veriano Lucheti and Mietta Seghele (Riccardo Zandonai Opera Festival). He won several competitions: first prize at the International Tenors “Luciano Pavarotti” Competition 2008 (St. Petersburg, Elena Obratzova Foundation), first prize at the 3th Galina Vishnevskaya International Opera Competition 2010 (Moscow), special prize at the Concorso Riccardo Zandonai di Riva del Garda 2008 and second prize at the Concorso Internazionale di Canto “Marcelo Giordani”.

          Badalyan has worked in several theatres and festivals, like: Vancouver Opera, Opéra National de Paris, Arena di Verona, Opéra de Montréal, Minnesota Opera, Opera de Las Palmas, Palacio de Bellas Artes de la Ciudad de Mexico, Teatro Municipal de Santiago del Chile, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Teatro La Fenice, Rostov Music Philharmonic, Moscow Concert, Novaya Opera Theatre (Moscow), Bolshoi Opera Theatre, Novosibirsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre Wielki Opera (Warsaw).                   

         He sung the roles Rodolfo (La Bohème), Alfredo (La Traviata), Ismaele (Nabucco), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), (Duca) Rigoletto, Lohengrin (Lohengrin), Don José (Carmen), Prince (Rusalka), Turiddu (Cavaleria Rusticana), Faust (Faust), Foresto (Attila), Manrico (Il Trovatore), among others.

      He colaborated with the “maestri” Michael Pletnev, Antonello Allemandi, Wilson Kery-Linn, William Christie, Francesco Ivan Ciampa, Jan Latham-Koenig, Konstantin Chudovsky, Teodor Kurentzis, among others.

        Among his next engagements, he will sing the roles of Lohengrin, Rodolfo in Puccini's La Bohème, Alfredo, Faust, Pinkerton and Duca di Mantova, at Moscow Novaya Opera and Grand Theatre of Hong Kong.
