Giovanni Meoni has made a name as one of the most distinguished operatic baritones who made his way through the belcanto repertoire of Bellini and Donizetti to become a renowned singer for the big Verdi roles. With great expressiveness, refined phrasing, and a thrilling scenic presence he convinces both audiences and critics.

Meoni started studying piano and later vocal studies and made his stage debut as Marcello/LA BOHEME at the Teatro Vespasiano di Rieti, after winning several national and international competitions.

His career already brought him to the most prestigious opera houses of the world including the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Vienna State Opera, the Zurich Opera, the State Operas in Munich and Hamburg as well as the Bolshoi Moscow, the Liceu Barcelona and the opera houses in Beijing, Nancy, Liège, Marseille, Bologna, Venice, Palermo and Firenze among many others.

Being an active concert singer as well he regularly sings recitals and concerts in halls like the Carnegie Hall New York, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. His recitals took place in Milan, New York, London, Paris, Bruxelles, Madrid, Hong Kong, Bucarest and Sofia.

During his career he had the pleasure to work with outstanding conductors like Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, Myung-Wun Chung, Gary Bertini, Daniele Gatti, Daniel Oren, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Alain Lombard, Pinchas Steinberg, Nello Santi, Donato Renzetti, Renato Palumbo and directors like Franco Zeffirelli, Hugo De Ana, Pierluigi Pizzi, Robert Carsen, Denis Krief, Giuliano Montaldo, Jonathan Miller, Beni Montresor, Alberto Fassini, Gilbert Deflo e Renzo Giacchieri.

Recent highlights include roles like Ezio/ATTILA, Amonasro/AIDA, SIMON BOCCANEGRA, Germont/LA TRAVIATA, RIGOLETTO, MACBETH, Don Carlo/ERNANI, Conte di Luna/IL TROVATORE, Renato/UN BALLO IN MASCHERA or NABUCCCO in Liège, Vienna, Barcelona, Parma, Verona, Naples, Rome, Palermo, Bruxelles, Nancy, Graz, Beijing and Muscat.
