
Daegyun Jeong baritone


Daegyun Jeong was born in 1994 in South-Korea. From 2013 to 2017, he studied singing at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore, with the Prof. Alan Lee Bennett. During this time, he appeared in various concerts, performing music by Bach, Mozart and Haydn, among others. He has been on stage in renowned South-Korean venues, like the Daegu Opera House, the Suseung Art Center and the Daegu Citizen Hall, and was invited to sing for various Korean radio stations such as KBS, SBS, CTS and CBS.
In October 2017, he began a Master's program at the Cologne University of Music and Dance, with a major in opera and concert. In Cologne, he is studying in the classes of Prof. Mario Hoff and Prof. Johannes Martin Kränzle. During the 2017/18 season, he debuted as Forester in The Cunning Little Vixen at the Theater Aachen. Another role that he has performed in 2018 was Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, at the Cuvilliéstheater, in Munich.
Daegyun Jeong has been a member of the Opernstudio NRW since 2019/20 and sang the 3rd Edler in Lohengrin, at Theater Dortmund. At the Wuppertal Opera, he could be heard as Schaunard in La Bohème.
In the 2020/21 season, he can be heard at the Aalto Theater Essen as Leuthold in Rossini's Guillaume Tell, at the Musiktheater im Revier, as Yamadori in Madama Butterfly, at the Wuppertal Opera as Samuel in Sullivan's Die Piraten von Penzance, and again as Shaunard and as Duphol in Verdi's La Traviata.
